Canadian indie rock darlings Tegan and Sara are a double threat in more ways than one – they’re both talented singer-songwriters, both multi-instrumentalists, and yes, they’re identical twins. With the 2013 release of their seventh album Heartthrob, the duo topped the album charts for the first time and achieved their first No. 1 single with infectious electro-pop hit “Closer”. True to the ethos of indie rock, the sisters’ path to success has been decidedly DIY – their early demos were made in their high school’s recording studio, and their 1999 debut album Under Feet Like Ours was released independently. After achieving their breakthrough hit with “Walking With a Ghost” from 2004’s So Jealous, they would go on to release several successful EPs and albums, including the Grammy-nominated long-form video for “Get Along” from the 2011 live album of the same name. On the road with American band .fun for 2013’s Most Nights Summer Tour, Tegan and Sara have been charming audiences with their endearingly coordinated personal style and their energetic live performances.

Reviews

One of my favorite shows!

Tawnysmiff Madison Theater, Covington

They were wonderful! They played a handful of songs from several different albums. Super involved and interactive with the crowd. Japanese Breakfast (the opener) was great and very Cranberry esque. I had the best time and plan on seeing many more!

This was a great show! It was incredible experiencing their songs performed live. They did songs from several albums, which was amazing because I had never been able to see them before. It was just amazing!

My second Tegan and Sara show

I saw the duo several years ago for the "Heartthrob" album. This created a pretty high expectation as that show was phenomenal. Unfortunately, this show just wasn't quite on that level. Thematically I get that they're matching "love you to death" but it just all kind of felt like a chinsy dance remix of everything. From the opening canned track of a pointer sisters cover to the sterile synth plodding of an all electronic opening of "back in your head", it just kind of lacked life. Also the acoustics where we were standing (right side, behind bannister where it's slightly elevated)were far worse than I anticipated. It was nearly all kick drum and sub bass, so that didn't help. That being said, I'll still see them again.

Tegan & Sara rocked the State theater

Sheady1 State Theatre, Portland

As always, the girls rocked the house. The venue was awesome & open ( but No A/C). There were 3 bars and no lines. Drinks were not outrageously priced. Being able to sit or stand anywhere was also a bonus. I can't wait for T & S to come back to New England. Love them & their energy
