Machel aka Double M aka Machel HD is always amazin
Although the officials kept the crowd of mostly Caribbean people waiting mercilessly in the freezing cold for two hours before opening the doors around 11:05 p.m., the show that Mr. Machel (pronounced Marshall for those who do not know) Montano, the undisputed king of soca and the best Caribbean entertainer of his era, was simply majestic. He didn't disappoint. This is about the 10th time that I have seen his performance and although it was not as dynamic and long as his concerts in his native Trinidad and Tobago, Machel gave the people what they wanted or what they needed for suffering in the cold that long. Long live Machel! I'd recommend viewing his videos on YouTube to appreciate his artistry even more.
Good Concert, Missing Headliner
There was enough space, sound system great, drinks good. Big problem though 1 of the Headliners didn't show, i'll be requesting a refund because of this.
The highlight of the show was of course machel but overall it was a great festival and will definitely be going again next year!
Machel's energy is undeniable!
Unfortuantely, the other headliner, D'banj, couldn't make it. But Machel was all I needed for an unforgettable Labor Day show. He also brought out Angela Hunte and Sean Paul towards the end of his set as a surprise. Would see him in concert again. Venue wasn't bad either.
I enjoyed myself when Machel came to the stage. His performance is what inclined me to rate 4 stars. Otherwise I would have given 2.5. I made the mistake of standing in the front. People were out of control up there. Pushing, Fighting and just plain rude. Someone spilled a drink on me and stepped on my foot. Then it took forever for Machel to get on stage. The host was trying to stall but....it wasn't working.... people were getting impatient. But the performance was AMAZING....pure energy and very entertaining.
